The first step is to go into System Preferences and then “Accessibility”. Now go to the “Dictation” tab and switch “Dictation” on. When it has been switched on, “Use Enhanced Dictation” will be activated. If this is the first time you’re using dictation, you will be asked to download a small file for “enhanced dictation”. If you don't see the option, it suggest you have an earlier Mac OS. I personally use Sierra. You said you're going directly into the Mac. That means, no Audio Interface. Explain how you are connecting to your Mac, specifically what input. And, you are wearing headphones expecting to hear yourself.
